About Us

Monarch Native Landscaping was founded in October 2024 by Sarah Culliton and Paul Bailey after an Ohio Mushroom DNA Lab fungi diversity research trip where they realized they shared the same goal to help people transform their yards into more beautiful and ecologically useful spaces.

Sarah Culliton is a citizen mycologist and professional ecologist native to Lake and Ashtabula Counties, northeast Ohio. She has attended Hocking and Hiram Colleges where she gained invaluable knowledge of local geology, soil, water quality, ecology, flora and fauna. Before co-founding Monarch Native Landscaping, she worked for the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Summit Metro Parks as a seasonal park biologist, and Hiram College as a forest ecology intern and ecological research technician. With her combined experience and passion, she hopes to provide more resources to Ohioans who want to increase biodiversity in their lives.

Paul Bailey, Jr. was born in
  Dayton, Ohio. When he's not
tending his garden or taking care of
  his chickens, he volunteers at
Darke County Parks or helps run
the Ohio Mushroom DNA Lab to
  collect data on Ohio's biodiversity
  and update the scientific literature
on mycology. His mission in life is to create green spaces where all living things may feel welcomed and accepted while deepening the relationship that people have with their food and where their food comes from.
